Summary
The Norwegian Hound, or Dunker, was created in the early 19th century by the Norwegian breeder Wilhelm Conrad Dunker, who crossed a Russian smooth-coated scent hound (Harlequin Hound) with local Norwegian scent hound breeds. It is a hunting dog specialized in hare, adapted to the cold climate and rugged terrain of Norway. Its blue-mottled coat is a very distinctive characteristic.
