Little Lion Dog
Summary
The Löwchen, whose German name means "little lion," is one of the oldest European companion breeds, with representations in paintings and tapestries dating back to the 15th century. It is famous for its traditional lion clip — the rear body and half the legs trimmed short, creating a contrast with the long coat on the front. In 1973, it was nearly extinct, with only 65 registered specimens worldwide.

Temperament & Personality
The Löwchen is an affectionate, cheerful, and courageous dog — it is said to have the heart of a lion in a small body. It is sociable and adaptable, getting along well with children, other dogs, and cats. It is not hyperactive; it prefers being close to the family rather than running around alone. It is intelligent and relatively easy to train, although it may occasionally display a stubbornness characteristic of ancient European companion breeds.
