Summary
The Italian Rough-Haired Segugio is one of two varieties of the Segugio Italiano, one of Italy's oldest scent hounds with origins tracing back to dogs from Ancient Egypt brought by the Phoenicians. It is an elegant dog of dry and muscular build, clearly visible in Italian Renaissance paintings. The rough-haired variety is distinguished by its semi-long, harsh, and dense coat, which gives it a more rustic appearance.
