Summary
The Finnish Hound (Suomenajokoira) is by far the most popular hunting dog in Finland, with more than 30,000 specimens registered annually — an extraordinary percentage for a country of only 5 million inhabitants. Developed in the late 19th century by Finnish breeders from European scent hounds, it was specifically selected to hunt hare and fox in the snowy and forested terrains of Finland.
