Bullmastiff
Summary
The Bullmastiff was created in England in the 19th century by the gamekeepers of large rural estates to intercept and pin down poachers without killing them. Developed from a cross of 60% English Mastiff with 40% Bulldog, the result was a dog with the mass and strength of the Mastiff and the agility and courage of the Bulldog — the "Gamekeeper's Night Dog", as it was called.

Temperament & Personality
The Bullmastiff is a natural guardian with a remarkably calm personality for its size. It is very loyal and affectionate with its family, generally good with children, but always maintains a natural reserve with strangers. It is not a dog that barks excessively — it prefers to observe and assess. Its courage is unquestionable, but it is controlled by a balanced temperament that makes it a predictable and reliable companion.
