Bouvier Des Ardennes
Summary
The Bouvier des Ardennes is the lesser known of the two Belgian bouvier breeds, originating from the Ardennes, the mountainous and forested region in southeastern Belgium. It is a rustic and resilient working dog, less aesthetically refined than its cousin the Bouvier des Flandres, but equally capable and determined. It was used to drive cattle in the Ardennes mountains. It is a rare breed, classified as at risk of extinction, with few specimens outside Belgium.

The Bouvier des Ardennes is an energetic, resilient and intelligent dog, with a balanced and determined temperament. It is very active and needs work or intense physical activity to remain balanced. It is loyal to the family and a good watchdog, but requires adequate socialization. Its energy and robustness make it an excellent sport and outdoor activities dog.
