Summary
The Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog of the Sharplanina — generally called Šarplaninac — is a robust flock guardian originating from the Šar Planina mountains in the Balkans. Temperament & Personality
The Šarplaninac is calm, intelligent, courageous, and very devoted to its owner. It is typically the silent guardian — it observes everything, reacts when necessary, but does not bark without reason. With its family, it is affectionate but not servile. With strangers, it is very reserved. Its independence of thought requires an owner who respects it as a working partner and does not try to dominate it through coercive methods.
