Swedish Vallhund
Summary
The Swedish Vallhund, known as the "Viking Dog," is a Swedish breed of very ancient origin, used for centuries as a cattle herding dog in Sweden. Its appearance — low, long, and with a fox-like face — bears notable similarities to the Welsh Corgi, although their origins are independent. The breed nearly disappeared in the 1940s, being saved by a conscious preservation effort.
