Nederlandse Kooikerhondje
Summary
The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is an ancient Dutch breed, developed to lure ducks into aquatic traps called "kooien" — the dog ran along partially covered channels, attracting curious ducks into a net. This technique, called "tolling," was widely used in the Netherlands for centuries. The breed nearly disappeared after World War II, having been recovered thanks to the efforts of dedicated Dutch breeders.
