Summary
The Istrian Wire-Haired Hound is the wire-coated variant of the Istrian Hound, developed for working in more difficult and thorny terrain. The rough coat offers greater protection on the rocky karst of Istria. It has more recent origins than the short-haired variety, being the result of crosses between the latter and European wire-coated scent hounds.
