Summary
The Harrier is a medium-to-large British scent hound, developed for hare hunting (hare, in English, hence the name) on foot — that is, at a pace that hunters on foot could keep up with. It is an older breed than the Beagle and was widely used in England for centuries. Today it is rare even in its country of origin, being essentially a hunting breed maintained in packs.
