Summary
The Halden Hound (Haldenstøver) is a Norwegian scent hound originating from the city of Halden in southeastern Norway. It was developed in the early 20th century from crosses between Norwegian, English, and German scent hounds, to hunt hare and fox in snowy terrain. It is an almost exclusively Norwegian breed, very rare outside its country.

Temperament & Personality
The Halden Hound is a cheerful, hardy dog with excellent hunting instinct. It is a working animal par excellence, adapted to the cold climate and difficult terrain of Scandinavia. Outside of hunting, it can be an affectionate companion but needs plenty of exercise.
