Grand Griffon Vendeen
Summary
The Grand Griffon Vendéen is the largest representative of the Griffon Vendéen family, rough-coated scent hound breeds originating from the Vendée on the French Atlantic coast. With a history dating back to the 16th century, this breed was developed to hunt wolf, wild boar, and deer in difficult terrain, including dense scrubland where the rough coat was an advantage. It is a large, hardy, and muscular dog with a scruffy yet elegant appearance.
