Summary
The Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen (GBGV) is a short-legged, rough-coated scent hound from the Vendéen family, bred to hunt hare in difficult terrain. Despite being classified as a large scent hound (within the bassets), it is a medium-sized dog with relatively short legs that allow it to track close to the ground. It has become more popular as a companion dog in recent decades, especially in England and the United States.
