German Shepherd Dog
Summary
The German Shepherd is, without a doubt, one of the most famous, most utilized and most versatile breeds in the world. Systematically bred in the late 19th century by Captain Max von Stephanitz, who wanted to develop the perfect German working dog, it quickly transcended its original role as a herder to become the quintessential service dog: police, military, search and rescue, guide for the blind, drug and explosives detection, and family companion. Its combination of intelligence, strength, courage and trainability is practically unmatched.
