Summary
The Croatian Shepherd Dog is one of Croatia's native breeds, with documented records dating back to the 14th century, when a bishop of Đakovo described a black dog used for herding in the region. It is a medium-sized, agile and resilient breed, bred to drive and watch over sheep on the fertile plains of Slavonia. Despite its long history, it remains relatively unknown outside the Balkans.
