Summary
The Catalan Sheepdog, known in Catalan as "Gos d'Atura" (high mountain dog), is an Iberian shepherd breed originating from the valleys and foothills of the Pyrenees in Catalonia. It is an all-terrain dog, adapted to the demanding mountain conditions, combining herding instinct with guarding capability. During the Spanish Civil War, the Gos d'Atura was used as a messenger and search and rescue dog.
