The Basset Fauve de Bretagne is the short-legged version of the Griffon Fauve de Bretagne, developed for hare hunting in the rugged terrain and scrubland of Brittany. Unlike many bassets, it is an agile dog and surprisingly fast for its size, with a rough coat that protects it from the thorny bushes of Brittany.
