Summary
The Lapponian Herder (Lapinporokoira in Finnish) is distinct from the Finnish Lapponian Dog — while the latter is a typical Spitz, the Lapponian Herder has a type more similar to Nordic herding dogs, with a more rectangular silhouette and predominantly dark coat. It was bred specifically to herd reindeer for the Sami people in Finnish and Swedish Lapland.
