French Pointing Dog - Gascogne Type
Summary
The French Pointing Dog — Gascogne Type is the larger of the two types of French Braque (Gascony and Pyrenean), considered the closest to the original ancestors of European pointing dogs, which date back to the 14th century. From the Gascony region in southwestern France, it is a powerful and robust dog with great endurance, ideal for difficult terrains and varied game. It was never systematically crossed with English breeds, which preserved the original "French" type of slower and more methodical hunting.
