Caucasian Shepherd Dog
Summary
The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is one of the largest and most imposing flock guardians in the world, originating from the Caucasus Mountains. With a history spanning several thousand years, it was used to protect flocks from wolf and bear attacks and from thieves in the most remote regions of the former USSR. It is a highly trustworthy guard dog, but with a very independent temperament that is difficult to manage for inexperienced owners.

Temperament & Personality
The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is a born guardian, absolutely devoted to its territory and family, but deeply suspicious of any stranger. It has a very strong and independent personality, which makes training a real challenge for those without experience. It is courageous to the extreme — it will never back down before a wolf or bear — and has remarkable physical endurance. It needs an experienced, firm owner who understands the nature of guard dogs.
